Driving Evaluation
Driving Evaluation
If you’ve suffered an injury or illness that raises safety concerns, RehabVisions can evaluate the impact of those issues on your ability to drive safely. Evaluation by a skilled occupational therapist is appropriate for drivers of all ages with conditions that may impair the ability to safely operate a vehicle.
These clinical (non-road) evaluations are appropriate for those with physical and cognitive issues, including dementia, stroke, arthritis, low vision, learning disabilities, limb amputations, neuromuscular disorders, spinal cord injuries, cardiovascular diseases and other causes of functional deficits.
Driving evaluations can help provide peace of mind for drivers, their family, their employers, and those with whom they share the road.
Clinical driving assessments can also be the first step in addressing impairments with a rehabilitation plan of care to ensure that driving can remain a safe option, if possible. Treatment may include:
- Balance training
- Postural education
- Gaze stabilization exercise/training
- Manual therapy for neck pain to address soft tissue injury
- Core strengthening
- Aerobic conditioning
- Neuromuscular re-education
- Home program education
- Sports conditioning
